The Prince Mahidol Award is divided into two categories:
- In Medicine: for outstanding performance and/or research in the field of medicine for the benefit of mankind
- In Public Health: for outstanding contribution in the field of public health for the sake of the well-being of the peoples.
Recipient: An individual or group of individuals or an institution may be nominated by national medical or health authorities or by individual or group of individuals in nongovernmental capacity, as candidates for the Award.
Budget: $ 100,000, a medal and a certificate.
