EMBO provides support for the life sciences in Europe and beyond. We fund researchers as well as conferences, training and networking activities to help create an environment in which scientists can excel. 

 

  • Scientific Exchange Grants

Supporting international collaborations, enabling transfer of expertise.

Budget: travel costs and subsistence, up to 3 months.

Deadline: Applications must be submitted 30 days before the start date of the research visit.

  • Postdoctoral Fellowships

EMBO Postdoctoral Fellowships support excellent postdoctoral researchers throughout Europe and the world for a period of up to two years.

Budget: employment contracts for 2 years. Relocation and childcare allowance are included.

Deadline: accepted throughout the year; Spring and Autumn evaluation.

  • New Venture Fellowships

Supporting young scientists to enter a new field.

Budget: travel costs and subsistence, up to 3 months.

  • Core Facility Fellowships

Supporting training for staff of core facilities, funding international exchanges.

Budget: travel costs and subsistence, up to 3 months.

  • Advanced Collaboration Grants

A new scheme for group leaders in Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Poland, Slovenia, and Turkey who wish to engage in exchange visits with scientists in other EMBC Member States to develop or carry out collaborative projects or prepare joint grant proposals.

Budget: travel costs and subsistence, up to 6 months.

  • Young Investigator Programme

The EMBO Young Investigator Programme supports life scientists who have been group leaders for less than four years at the time of application in setting up their laboratories.

Budget: EMBO Young Investigators receive a financial award of 15,000 euros in their second year. They can also apply for additional small grants of up to 10,000 euros per year.

Deadline: April (LOI), June (FP).
