STEM women's garden 2023

Within the "International Day of Women and Girls in Science 2023" (February 11) a new tree, Diospyros kaki, was planted in the STEM Women's garden, at Cascina Cravino.

This tree has been entitled to the pathologist Piera Locatelli (1900-1975), who graduated at the University of Pavia in Medicine and Surgery, and was a brillant student of Camillo Golgi and Edoardo Perroncito. Moreover, she was and the first woman to get the role of Director of the Institute of General Pathology, at University of Pavia. She studied the nerves and the influence of the nervous system on the regeneration processes of the limbs.
