Ancient DNA Laboratory

Archeogenomics, or the reconstruction of genomic history through the analysis of ancient DNA, allows the enhancement of ancient finds by combining archaeological / anthropological analyzes with the most modern genomic sequencing techniques. Advances in genomics allow scientists to study ancient DNA still preserved today in bones that are hundreds or even thousands of years old. Many of the theories on the evolutionary history of populations, which were based on the analysis of modern DNA and on the search for traces of the past in this DNA, can be re-evaluated by also looking at the genome of individuals who lived in the past.
