The analysis of ancient DNA from archaeological and museum remains has transformed the study of the past. Archaeogenomics combines ultra-clean laboratory procedures, next-generation sequencing, and bioinformatic analyses. These approaches make it possible to reconstruct phylogenetic relationships, demographic changes, and migration patterns in populations that lived hundreds or thousands of years ago. In this way, archaeogenomics connects fundamental molecular research with the study and valorisation of cultural heritage.
